Quickly Approaching TWO!

As we venture forth into a new year, I can't help but to start thinking about Zac and the fact that his birthday his coming up. I can easily remember just two years ago, this time of year, preparing for his arrival .... and the heartburn, back pain, and swollen feet. Little did we know how much our life would change and how much joy he would bring.

Now we count down the weeks (5 left) before his birthday and I can't help but get a little emotional. Not even three feet tall Zacary seems larger than life. He commands the attention of the room (little wild man that he is). Even in all of his spaziness, he's still very sweet and gentle. Just the other day he reached up, put his hand on my face, looked deep in my eyes and said, "Wuv you mama" - you'd think that in two years the intensity of love would wear off a bit ... nope.

His brain is like a little sponge, in the past few weeks he's learned his colors, shapes, sings the alphabet, recognizes a few letters, can count to ten (only from 3 on) and says about 10 new words a day. His personality is really coming through and he's already getting quirky; he doesn't like it when Andrew speaks spanish to him ("No, dada, no!"), he HAS to put his milk back in the fridge before bedtime and likes to draw while on the potty. He's opinionated and thinks he knows everything ("No plow, dada... it's truck shovel"). He loves to swim and doesn't like help ("Self mama, self"). He's a funny little guy, that's for sure.

I'm sure he'll continue to blow my mind as he grows and learns, but for now I'm all consumed by his preciousness and just had to share.

Thump. Pat, pat, pat. Squeek.

These are the sounds we heard late last night as our dear 22 month old climbed out of his crib and pitter-pattered into our bedroom. With pride in his voice, he loudly said, "Hi Dada!". Our littlest of little ones is becoming a "big boy" and I just can't believe it!

Zac's Christmas Day

6:00 - wake up.
6:10 - drink milk.
6:11 - ask to go downstairs.
(dad is preparing coffee, mom is lighting fire, putting on holiday music, setting up video camera.)
6:12 - ask to go downstairs.
6:13 - ask to go downstairs.
6:14 - ask to go downstairs.
6:15 to 6:30 - repeat above.
6:31 - go downstairs.

6:35 to 8:00 PM- "Mama, choo-choo tracks. Dada, choo-choo tracks. Thank you Santa. Mama, choo-choo tracks. Dada, choo-choo tracks. (repeat)"
8:01 - reluctantly fall asleep.

Needless to say, Zacary REALLY enjoyed his Christmas this year!

This post isn't about Zac (sorry Valerie), but about me! Here is a clip of our recent ski day at Loveland.

I promise to start adding more about Z-man soon :)

Let it SNOW!

It's November 21st and we finally got our first significant snow of the season - yay! When Zacary woke up and looked out his window this morning, he said, "Wooww!". He then proceeded to show his new best friends (Meow and Baby - more on that later) the snow out the window. "Meow, snow", "Baby, snow".

Here is a pic I snapped of Z & Maia hanging out in the wagon - we need a sled - Zac was actually saying "Cheese" here.
